Round-Up Purchases
at jcpenney to help the Club

From July 31 through August 27, shoppers at jcpenney at the Oaks Mall were invited to round-up their purchases to the nearest whole dollar and donate the difference to the Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark in order to support quality after school programs. The Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark has partnered with jcpenney to provide children in need with access to life-enriching afterschool programs that foster social skills, provide opportunities to be physically active and achieve academic success in school. “The availability of affordable afterschool programs continues to be an important community objective in order to meet the needs of working parents,” said W. Scott Mosher, the Club’s Chief Professional Officer. “We hope the public keeps our mission in mind because all Round-Up dollars raised stay in our community to help support our youth and sustain our operations. Moreover, we’re grateful to jcpenney for its continued support and commitment to our organization.”

jcpenney’s Round-Up campaign continues to make a tremendous difference in the lives of youth. Recent studies show that one out of every four children in the U.S. is unsupervised after school.* Since 1999, jcpenney’s continuing support and commitment to the after school cause has made it possible for more children to participate in positive after school environments nationwide.

The Boys & Girls Club plays a critically important role for children in the Moorpark area. At the forefront of youth development, the Club works with young people from all social, economic and family circumstances to provide a positive, safe alternative to going home with no adult supervision or structured activities. The Club serves about 250 kids per day at its main site on Casey Road, as well as at three school on-site locations at Campus Canyon Elementary, Chaparral Middle School and Mesa Verde Middle School. Programs and activities fall under five core areas: Character & Youth Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
